You may be reading this because anxiety and depression are affecting your life. Perhaps you’re tired of the daily struggles you face and want something to change. I can help you make sense of difficult feelings or problems - these may be your individual feelings or in the context of your relationships.

You might recognise that you are driven to repeat patterns in relationships or at work. You might have had a sense for a while that something isn’t quite right, a voice inside stopping you from living a happy and fulfilling life - you’re curious to see if therapy could help.

Our thoughts and feelings in the present - how we experience ourselves and others - are affected by what went before, sometimes stemming from childhood. Our reactions to friends and family, along with our own internal thoughts and emotions, are often strongly based on how people close to us responded to us in the past.

Why psychodynamic therapy?

Psychodynamic therapy involves deeply listening to you. The treatment is unique to you and your experience of life.

I invite you to say whatever thoughts and feelings you are having, and we explore together where your thoughts might take us, and what they might reveal about underlying concerns or past experiences that may be impacting on you in the present.   You might like to talk about your dreams, or you might not. There can be space, too, for thoughtful moments of silence.

I speak in plain English, I don't use jargon nor talk about abstract theories.

Psychodynamic therapies are evidence-based treatments.  Information about their efficacy can be found here...

I am based at the City of London Therapy Centre, a short walk from several stations: Barbican (Metropolitan Underground Line), Farringdon (Elizabeth and Metropolitan Underground Lines) and Old Street (Northern Underground Line and National Rail).

The Centre is a discreet and comfortable place - a large, three storey terrace house. Consulting rooms are quiet, peaceful and air conditioned. There is a small waiting area on the ground floor and bathroom facilities.

About me

I work with a wide range of emotional, existential and mental health issues. I have several years' experience of working in the NHS with clients of all ages from many different backgrounds. As well as private practice, I continue to work work part-time in the NHS in the north-east London area.

I offer once weekly sessions and offer short or long-term therapy. I work face-to-face and on-line.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their code of ethics. I work under regular clinical supervision. I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and work within their data privacy standards.  I am fully insured for private practice.

I do not provide a crisis service. If you need immediate support please contact NHS 111 (24 hours) for signposting to your local NHS Mental Health Trust.  In an emergency dial 999.  You can also contact the Samaritans 24/7 and they are open 365 days of the year.

What happens when you contact me?

I can offer you a 15 minute video consultation for us to discuss whether this is the right kind of therapy for you. There is no charge for this.  If we both feel it might be helpful, I will then offer you a full face-to-face or online consultation session. If you wish to consider working with me further, we can follow up with one or two more 50 minute consultations, one and two weeks afterwards, and then you can take time to consider if you would to like work further on a weekly basis.

If we feel this might not be the right therapy, or not the right time for you at the moment, we can discuss what alternatives might be helpful.

Email me at kevinsnowpsychotherapy@outlook.com or click on the message tab at the bottom of this page and I will contact you.

Therapy times

I currently have vacancies on Wednesday mornings and Saturday mornings, starting from 8am.

Fees

I charge on a sliding scale. My fee is from between £105 to £75 per session.  You decide your fee according to your financial circumstances, within the sliding scale.  The fee for consultation sessions and for weekly sessions is the same.  Sessions are for 50 minutes.

If you do not have the financial resources to undertake private therapy at this time, you might consider a range of low fee therapy services in London.  A list of reduced fee and free services is available from the Free Psychotherapy Network. You might also think about contacting your GP, visit your local NHS Trust website or contact your local branch of MIND and see what therapy is available at no cost.
